Dissemination of Methods

Through prolific publishing and lecturing, Co-Directors Dr. Sanduk Ruit, and Dr. Geoffrey Tabin are disseminating the Himalayan Cataract Project’s innovative, replicable model of sustainable eye care throughout the developing world. The HCP is a distinguished presence in academics. In 2002, Dr. Kunzang Getshen gave a presentation to the American Academy of Ophthalmology on the public health approach to eliminating needless blindness in Bhutan. Drs. Tabin and Ruit taught courses on our cataract surgery delivery technique as well as our sutureless cataract surgery technique at the International Congress of Ophthalmology, and at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting. We often publish articles in peer reviewed journals (see publications), and are engaged in many ongoing research projects.
